About LOTA

LOTA is a space for discovering and celebrating the artists shaping culture today. We spotlight the voices redefining tradition, breaking boundaries, and making art personal, messy, and real.
Founded by Anar Joshi, LOTA started as a passion project—just a way to share the artists and designers who inspire her. Now, it’s a thriving advisory, consultancy, and curatorial platform championing emerging BIPOC artists and pushing against monoculture.

What’s in a Name?
The lota (“low-tah”) is a water vessel found all over India—used daily, passed down through generations. It’s simple, functional, and deeply meaningful. Designers Ray and Charles Eames even considered it a symbol of perfect design. Like the Lota, the art we celebrate isn’t just beautiful—it’s part of everyday life, a connection to history, and a way forward.
